Cool member covers rolling in

Two days ago I asked members to send us alternate "default covers" and the covers are rolling in, even though I neglected to say how. We love all of them—they're excellent. It's going to be hard to pick winners.

How to send more: Since the files are big, there's no easy way to post them; send to my email, tim@librarything.com.

Very cool. I notice Greyhead goes straight for the jugular with red and green Loeb covers!
Question (slightly in line with the requests for no-cover option on the previous entry)
Will we be able to choose particular custom covers from a selection of the winners, or will it be a one-cover-fits all?

Those Pelican/Penguin covers are this business. I want.

This is very cool! I hope you will find a way to leave us enough room to choose our favorite.

I like the first set of contributed covers in this entry. Any of those would be attractive.

I love these covers. How can we get titles and author on them? Or is that possible? Or is this a dumb question? from robertsgirl

How do we use these covers? I have an Archilochus Loeb I'd like to use the green Loeb cover for, but I don't see how to get it.

Very much looking forward to being able to use these....

If I understood correctly, we'll be able to assign different covers to different books, right?

Are you going to keep them all and choose one that is the default and then if we don't want to use the default (or want variety) we can choose other(s)?

I like the one that says, "my original cover". It looks more like the old books I have and it's brown. Brown is nice on a shelf, blue is not. :)

Less is more, so no graphics or flamboyant colours for me. I like LibraryThing enough to pay for it, but that doesn't mean that I'd like to have a logo on the cover of titles without covers. Having the option to choose one's default cover would be nice, of course.

As for having the author and title on the default cover, it would of course be possible, but I'd say that the resources needed to have that feature wouldn't make the effort worthwhile.

I would like to pick a default cover based on my tags: a classic design for my books tagged 'history', a romantic design for my books tagged 'novel', etc.

Which makes me think... what to do about a book tagged history and literature? Perhaps the first tag takes precedence?

My only concern with a lot of these covers, is that they look too much like other, actual covers in my library. I'd rather the default be something totally different (like the blue LibraryThing cover) so that I can tell at a glance which of my books need to have their cover uploaded.

I would love to be able to choose a cover for each book that doesn't have its own. I especially love all the new ones posted today, Nov. 18. I would shun the plain solid-color ones for ones that match the genres of the specific books.

On second thought, how about a dedicated LibraryThing default cover, one that has the LT logo on it?
