LibraryThing pizza bash Saturday in Cambridge

So, it looks like Saturday is going to involve lightning, so the barbeque has morphed into a pizza party.

But we're not getting just ordinary pizza! We'll be ordering from Emma's Pizza in Cambridge, MA, which is some seriously gourmet stuff (menu).* And we'll have plenty of chips and hummus too.**

Everyone is invited. Bring a friend. If you can RSVP, great. If not, that's fine. We're probably going to need to order the pizza beforehand. We're going to double the RSVP list. If you like, you can bring something .

When: Saturday, July 28th, 4pm to whenever.

Where: 15 Gurney Street, Cambridge MA (Google map). It's about 15 minutes walking from the Square. You can also take the 72 (Huron) bus, and ask for the Fayerweather stop.

Parking: The City of Cambridge has declared Saturday LibraryThing day***. You can park anywhere on Gurney Street and between Gurney and Huron on Fayerweather.

Can't wait to see everyone!

*When Emma's was at the foot of Gurney Street, when I was young, it was decidedly less upscale. There were no tables—just a counter nobody used—and the ambiance was comprised of Emma berating her meek husband Greg in angry, staccato Armenian all day long. When the current owners bought it they moved it to Kendall Square, avoided marital conflict, added tables and the goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts today's Cambridge requires. Somehow they managed to preserve what was good about it. It's an amazing pizza.
**Alas, Tim's trademark sigara börek will not fit with the rest of the meal.
***Untrue.

ARRGGHH! Sounds great. It's just a little far from IA.

I'll hoist a slice out this way in your honor.

I can't eat cheese (of any kind) but it looks like I can get a chicken sandwich (sans mozarella) from there, so that should be excellent. Looking forward!

What a wonderful idea. I'll be there in spirit (too far from the rain-sodden UK to get there in person). Have a great time.

Boerek fits in with any meal! When Emma's was on Gurney, did she make lehmajun, true Armenian pizza?

And I'm doubling my RSVP to 2, dragging a friend along.

Eat a slice for me.... I used to go to Emma's when it was on Huron. I don't recall printed menus! But if the crust's still the same: yum!

Yes, that works for us also...although perhaps it's more appropriate to bring drinks rather than the bean/pasta salad (which requires utensils). We'll be there.

C'mon, now.

There's been plenty of time for everyone to get home (or to the hotel, or Aunt Barb's house), sober up, and provide post-bash commentary. Who wore what. What was discussed. What was consumed. If it did, indeed, thunderstorm.

It often seems that whenever there's just such a get-together, we get insufficient rehashing. Show some consideration. Many of us live vicariously through y'all, you know.

Okay, forget I said all that.

Either you're on your fifth pitcher of sangria, or you're working on the rampant MySQL errors. Either way, have fun. We'll be okay without LT for a bit (seriously... not being sarcastic :)

Well, we'd like to post pictures, but, I mean, we're all naked in them.

Yes, what with all the running around naked through the thunderstorms, I don't know if we're allowed to talk about it either ;)

Thanks Tim and Abby (and Tim's parents!) for hosting the party. It was great to put some faces to the screennames and have some off-line conversations. Just looking around the house, you can tell where Tim gets his love of books from.
