The gift of LibraryThing
LibraryThing memberships make great gifts!
Lifetime memberships ($25)
Yearly memberships ($10)
Or what about CueCats as stocking stuffers? Nothing says holiday joy like a barcode scanner shaped like a cat, I say. Functional and decorative!
And don't forget our store at CafePress, ThingStore. Everything at ThingStore is offered at the CafePress base price—we're not marking it up, and not making any money on it—so buy it simply for the joy of wearing it.
I've been using LT as a "what not to buy" tool lately (no, I'm not just Unsuggesting). It's good for seeing what books my niece already owns, so I don't end up buying duplicates (plus, it's slightly more discreet than driving to her house and bookshelf snooping). In short, proof that you should give memberships to your friends and family—it benefits you both!
Update: I've been informed that PopMatters included LibraryThing as part of their 2006 Holiday Gift Guide ("shopping for the best pop culture stuff")!

Maybe next year, this Christmas I gifted a lifetime account to myself, decided the LT team deserve my little bi of financial support.
Now I feel less guilty about moaning and requesting features :-P
I had no idea that Librarything.com had a "shop" to buy things at! I have recently joined this website, and all of my fellow co-workes will hopefully join too! I love being able to keep up with what I've read!
Great ideas! I'd love to identify myself as a thingamabrarian and promote LT. I'm not much of a t-shirt wearer, so if you're interested later in expanding your schwag store, I'll throw out a few ideas for the kinds of items I'd really be into:
* An LT book light (http://www.usimprints.com/prod/8131.htm)
* LT bookmarks
* LT book embosser, stamp, or name stickers (to mark the books as mine but also tag them as residents within LT).

* LT highlighter pens (since I read my most worthy books with the loving touch of a highlighter)

Cheers.
pedalinfaith - Good ideas. Right now we're just using the schwag that CafePress offers. I think bookmarks would be pretty easy to make up though (Tim and I already have LT bookmarks/business cards). Or bumperstickers, which we considered at one point...
I'd love to have a "packet." Membership, CueCat, tshirt and library card. I've seen a million library card vendors at trade shows. I'm not sure what the point would be, but hey...
I for one would like to give some gifts -- but I would like to do so from my moneybookers account. I didn't see this possibility on the payment page, is it on the pipeline?
thanks
anon - We're just using PayPal right now, but I'll look into moneybookers.
The other option is the old fashioned route - snail mail and a paper check, which we absolutely accept. If you'd like to do that, email me (abby at librarything.com) for the address to send it to.
abby start her on the banned books

Yay for bookmarks!
I've also been playing in my mind with the idea of Tim as TIME Man if the Year, and of course it wouldn't be, and then it happened! Have you heard it yet? The TIME Magazine Man/Woman of the Year is -- You! All of you! Everyone! Toto el mundo! And Tim is not only one of everyone, he's also what they're referring to particularly, 2.0 and all that. So -- let's all cheer Tim and all of us!
We have started putting our Videos on our Library Thing but I'm wondering if there is something similar that would recognize the Video/CD ISBN numbers. Chris and Melinda Griffith

How does one go about actually giving a lifetime membership to someone as a gift? I can't seem to find any instructions on how to do this. Help?
