Welsh site 79% done!

LibraryThing in Welsh is 79% done, largely but not entirely owing to Dogfael. Outstanding! Check it out at cym.librarything.com. If the domain ever gets approved, we'll try to get www.librarything.cym.

Now, what can we do to make it better for Welsh speakers? Any libraries to add? Most libraries don't have open Z39.50 connections, but I can run down a list if people give me one.

Congratulations! The National Library of Wales is obviously the best place to go, which you have already. Once you're up to 100%, given that there's so little on the web in Welsh, it would be worth contacting the library. Better still, get a press release written, ask Dogfael to translate it, and get it out to the Welsh media.

The current Welsh version looks good so far. Da iawn Dogfael (and everyone else who helped).

Poking at the Library of Congress z39.50 list...

Cardiff University - cardiff.ac.uk - and the University of Wales Aberystwyth - aber.ac.uk - both have functioning connections via the LoC list, so you should be able to figure something out.

University of Wales Bangor - bangor.ac.uk - used to have an open connection, but the link doesn't work and I can't find anything on their site.

Why not use ISO 639-1 language codes for sub-domains rather than country codes? 'cy' for Welsh. If you want to have dialectal versions you can use the standard representation e.g. en_US, en_GB, pt_BR, pt_PT
