Scheduled downtime: 12am EST

LibraryThing will be going down for some well-deserved rest at 12am EST. I expect the downtime to last between 30mins and 1 hour.

ah well...what to do with my life now?

But at least I got the first comment! Which makes me better than anyone who didn't! Which is everyone! Except me! Except I?

sigh...LibraryThing really needs to go back online now...

ok - it has been over an hour...need to get my fix soon...

So, what does "scheduled maintainance" really mean?

Stoner McGyver could have fixed this with an avacodo, ar hat pin and the tube from a roll of toilet paper by now

Kind of off topic, but I was wondering when Library Thing will allow us to catalog DVDs. I heard somewhere (maybe on the blog) that this was something we should expect to see in the future.

To DVDs: The short answer is: soon. We're doing basically two rounds of major changes. The first round will start bearing fruit soon, and is catalog improvements and social upgrades. The second will be data improvements and media improvements. That's rough, but basically true. So, maybe August?

Several (myself included) are already entering CDs and DVDs into the database; we are using tags to identify the media type. Hope that we are able to easily integrate those into future format?

I would love to catalog my CD's. Will it possible for users (paid users?) to create separate CD/DVD libraries?

kperfetto: There are already sites for that. As well as "all-around" cataloging. Check out all-consuming, listal (sic), lib.rario.us et cetera... I think LT is starting to have their hands full with the new-found traffic of book lovers as it is. LT could do well if it specializes on books to become the best site for book cataloging.

EEK! All the profile pages are coming up as 404 errors! Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, I had the same experience. At one point last night I was able to add 6 books in a matter of about 30 minutes. WooHoo!! But, really, any amount of time I have in which the server doesn't seem like it's about to faint, croak or give up from sheer exhaustion is wonderful.

By the by, I'm probably one of the newbs that are slowing this site down. But, hey, I'm not a freeloader so don't cast your curses at me.

At any rate it seems to be working much better now *golf clap*

ooh does "catalog improvements" mean being able to edit more information on your own records (or on Amazons)!?!?!

Keeps fingers crossed...

your crazy Librarian user who wants to be able to put LCSHs in the correct section instead of having to use them as tags on books added in from Amazon or manually...
