Downtime 2am EST (8:00 GMT)

I'm taking LibraryThing down for an hour or so this morning, when you should be asleep anyway—you've got work tomorrow. I've made some changes that improve the speed issues; I hope this proves another step in the right direction.

Ah, but it's the middle of the day here in Australia, and I've only just discovered LibraryThing!

Oh well, I suppose I really should be doing work, anyhow... :)

Probably just as well. I'm at 153 books in a little under two days, and I think my family is starting to worry. ~_^

Lots of people have work tomorrow. People outside the U.S., people in the U.S. who don't work for government agencies or units of local government, in fact, the vast majority of the employed will be hard at work tomorrow.

Must admit, though, I'm one of the lucky ones . . .

I'll be working, which is why I need my Library Thing!

Tim, I sometimes worry about whether you get enough rest. Honestly, I admire your devotion to LibraryThing - but don't work yourself to death or anything, OK dude?

I don't work tomorrow! It's 2:43 am and I needed a widget for my blog and saw the sign saying LT was offline and gasped! I realized then how much I need my LT!

Hope you can get everything running again by the time I wake up in a few hours! Good luck!!

Maybe the stack-of-books photo could change to a different graphic whenever LibraryThing is down for repair, as an additional visual cue for users. It could make for a fun new photo-stack contest.

I propose a stack of books on "fix-it" topics, for instance :-)

...or maybe a jumbled mess-o-books in a pile. ;)

Database is slow as molasses. It may take a while to resolve. Don't worry, it's very much backed-up.

Ah, man - I am so sad!

I found LT 2 or 3 days ago, bought a lifetime membership and added 450 books (which looks about 1/4 of my collection). Now I'm gagging to add the rest!

How can I develop an addiction so quickly?!

Tim, sorry! I've messed with databases just enough to have a hint of the pain you must be going through right now...

It happens to us all.

LibraryThing addiction. As quick as it is lasting. And LibraryThing withdrawal: potent indeed. - Both applicable even to those with all our books in. :)

Hope all the work goes well!

12 hours and still I get the same message

9:45 AM EST - LibraryThing is down for database work. Don't worry. Your data is safe and backed-up.

All of you bookstackers might like to know about these shelves:

My boyfriend & I bought a pair of the tall ones for our place. We filled both of them to the brim with books. They are excellent space-savers and (surprisingly) VERY sturdy.

I should take a picture for the Flickr acct sometime. Just so long as I don't have to topple 'em over for a LT-is-down image.

Not to seem impatient, but I am. I miss being able to add books to LibraryThing. How long is the database intended to be down?
