PCWorld does the LibraryThing
Christmas presents from the Mainstream Media! PCWorld's February issue (on the web, if not the newsstands) has a feature article Scott Spanbauer "New, Improved Web," on "Web 2.0" applications. The "Collaboration & Community" section covers companies like Flickr, Del.icio.us, Facebook—and LibraryThing!
In related news, LibraryThing has been picked up by a third Welsh-language blog (see the buzz page). It makes more sense than you might think; the National Library of Wales is one of the 30+ libraries LibraryThing accesses. And the Welsh are big readers—Hay-on-Wye, the world's greatest bookstore-town is located there. And they probably wear tweed a lot too.

"For book lovers, it's a LibraryThing: This site is similar to Del.icio.us, but for the tweed set. If you love books, and love people who love books, LibraryThing is for you. Start by using the service to catalog your book collection: Tag your books by topic, share your catalog with others, and then endlessly browse the titles that they have on their shelves. The utterly book obsessed can add the LibraryThing widget to a blog to show visitors what they have been reading lately. Listing up to 200 books is free; listing any number of books beyond that costs either $10 per year or a one-time $25 fee."Except for the part about the "tweed set"—are readers as marginal as that?—that's pretty sweet.

Cool!
Heh, I guess I need to go get me some tweed! Too bad this came so late, I could've put it on my christmas wishlist!
Honestly, I don't have one single tweed item in my closet!
no tweed here! a lot of tattoos, but no tweed.
I feel tweed-deficient somehow, but there's nothing amonst heaven, hell or Wales that will get me to a store today. Does tweed come a meerschaum pipe?
Congrats! That's some big (web) press and a great step for LibraryThing. Have a Merry Christmas!
What's tweed? Should I wear it?
The tweed set? ::snort::
Yes, because everyone who loves books must wear tweed and smoke a pipe whilst staring thoughtfully and pensively out the window of their ivory tower. ;-)
But seriously...that's great that Libary Thing is getting mentioned a lot lately. And thanks for all the great improvements that keep coming our way! There's more stuff I hope you'll implement, but for now, I'm totally thrilled with being able to add book covers, as that was my number one wish.
Merry Christmas/Happy Hannukah/Cool Yule/Fabulous Festivus/Bah Humbug, Library Thing!
Some of us may be tweedy, but I suspect that most of us are tweedless (possibly even tweed-free). But to quote a certain Scottish folksong by Dick Gaughan:
Let friendship and honour unite
And flourish on both sides the Tweed...
ha, i've never gotten a very tweedy impression from librarything. personally, though...well, let's just say my dad likes to call me "sherlock holmes," and not because of my deductive skills. pretty unflattering, especially as a girl, but i suppose i'm asking for it.

I own nothing tweedy nor does Jim. Neither of us smokes a pipe.
We do wish all a happy christmas and good year to come.

Had to look up tweed on the Urban Dictonary. Don't quite see how it fits, and I didn't I know I was one.
While we are busy buying new tweeds, I hope Tim will work hard to connect more libraries, especially European ones. Many of my old/antique books are not in any of the libraries presently linked to LibraryThing. Renato
I do not now, nor have I ever, worn tweed.
I would like to see some sort of forum, a place where we could post suggestions for new features, complaints, bug reports, critics, etc, rather than post it all here as blog comments.
I agree with Renato, I wish for more libraries to be connected, and also for the "original title" field, so that my italian translations of common books could be counted as proper books shared with other users.

No tweed here. I currently live in the deep South where tweed is not worn very much. Besides, the stuff itches.
