Reviews up a notch

Users like Wyvernfriend (299 reviews!) are finally getting their due. Although reviews remain—and will remain—secondary to cataloging, they are now a bit more "out there."

Check your profile for a reviews page, listing the books you've reviewed (if any). That page also lists the books that others have reviewed but you haven't. Over on the Zeitgeist page, I'm now listing the most prolific reviews and the most-reviewed books.

In other news, you'll notice that clicking on another user no longer automatically sorts the books according to whether or not you share them. Instead, the catalog tells you how many books you share and gives you a special link to see them. The processing time (comparing all your books against all someone else's books) was really slowing LibraryThing down. Indeed, you should find things a little faster overall.

Erk, and I haven't finished the review transfer from bibliophil, yet

gibber.

Ah well. Books mostly transferred, now down to the reviews and ratings and such.

I like the new interface for seeing what books I share with other users. Often when I go to another user's library, I'm not interested in the books we share. So it would be a waste to sort them that way right off the bat.

When I do go to the list of shared books, however, I run into problems. If I look at a user I share a lot of books with, say rmckeown, I get the first page of our common holdings. When I click on "next" to go to the second page, I wind up on the second page of rmckeown's library, rather than the second page of our shared books.

That problem seems to be fixed now. Thanks!

Oh, yeah. I fixed it and forgot to say so.

I'm glad you stopped sorting by shared books, because it messed up my sorting order for when I went back to my own library.

The review function appears to be broken. There's one user,

http://www.librarything.com/profile.php?view=ChVA

who has a single "review" that's linked to at least 44 of the books I've entered, but the link that appears in the review space,
http://www.livejournal.com/users/chva/151720.html,
is not a review for that book.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

http://www.librarything.com/card_social.php?book=365991

http://www.librarything.com/card_social.php?book=365696

Different books, but ChVA's completely non-related review appears in the "review" field for both of them
