Press that card icon again!

Some new features.
  • Formerly the icon just gave you the Library of Congress record. If you wanted to know a given book's ISBN you had to switch display styles. This was clunky, and not everyone got it (eg., my sister complained that LibraryThing only recorded author and title!). Now you can click on the card icon to get all the fields, a larger version of the cover AND the LC card.
  • The screen also gives you Amazon links. I need to include links back to Amazon if I'm going to use their API, and I think non-flashy links are a service of sorts. Yes, I get a 5% commission. I plan to take than commission and buy a cup of coffee every week.
  • In addition to the icon, which adds someone else's book to your library, books you already have are marked with a plus icon . I've kept the icon, which tells you others have the item (but not necessarily you).
  • When you click to someone's catalog, it now defaults to sorting by "sharedness" (thing you also have first, followed by things others have).

Cool! I like that, especially the Amazon link. I tried to search Amazon for Indonesian book and I found out that Amazon database has books in Indonesian language... I didn't know they had. Thanks again.

I was wondering if we will be able to catalog our music and DVD collections at some point. I know that media don't have LC call numbers, but their listing are availible from Amazon.

Hawamehahi - Thanks. I didn't know that either. Stay tuned, a major expansion to international libraries is "in the pipeline."

Sara - Maybe in the future, but I want to keep the focus on books. Yes, it's technically east to find the info, but CDs and DVDs have all sorts of different data that doesn't mesh right with book data. And I'm worried that moving to other media will muddy what LibraryThing "does." If LibraryThing does everything, in a way it does nothing, or anyway does nothing well.

Hey Tim - I was just informed that you were "unable to receive payments through Amazon honors system at the time". (?) - thanks.
Also, do you think that I should wait with the books that the system does not find (hoping that you might add something like the Harvard libraries to the mix), or should I go ahead and imput them manually?
many thanks for this system!

Thanks. I got very upset at first. They do have an automatic limit, but I didn't think a few dozen $10 payments would trigger it. Now I think it's the system itself. The whole Amazon Honors site appears down.

Meanwhile, get a paid/pending account. I trust you.
